Break and Paramount Pictures have struck a deal that will allow certain feature films to be added to Break’s free steaming service “Break Movies”. The service, which was launched in January, can be found on an array of platforms – Android, iOS, Roku, Xbox and Web.
With access to the Paramount library, viewers can watch 30 popular films each month. Every film is available for at least 30 days with film selection to include many favorites such as “Total Recall”, “Top Gun”, “Bloodsport” and “The Running Man”. It’ll also offer newer theatrical releases like “The Devil Inside” and the “Paranormal Activity” series.
Break, which is owned by DEFY Media, is the number one video humor website with more than 20 million unique monthly viewers.
DEFY Media President Keith Richman said the immediate response from its audience to offer Paramount movies just reinforces their appetite to have a la carte entertainment on OTT and mobile devices. He said the addition of certain Paramount Pictures’ titles is a key step for DEFY Media in increases its content portfolio on platforms consumers want them on.
Richman said it also meets the company’s brand partners’ increasing demand to support longer form content that will appeal to the audience’s tastes.
Dina Vangelisti, with Paramount Domestic TV Licensing & Distribution, said the company was delighted to work in conjunction with Break to boost the lineup of films. She said it allows “Break Movies” fans the chance to watch great movies whenever and wherever they want to. Vangelisti said the company is looking forward to offering Break Movies users its contemporary and classic favorites.
The Break/Paramount Picture deal is a huge expansion for Break’s streaming movie platform since its launch with partner Lionsgate to provide more than 200 films from the company’s library. Break also recently added Crash Media’s martial arts films for users to enjoy.
The Break editorial team constantly regulates the movie selection and divides them into categories.
